This morning the deer have all decided to lay and rest, the bucks are tired and so are the does after many days of rut season, well they all should be bred for the coming spring to have more babies around, oh dear i may have to get a job to feed them all, right now its costing me a bundle, around $500 a month to keep them happy, oh we love them so much

Its still rut season and the bucks are crazy with love on there mind, the does are so tired of being chased by them, My poor Molly pleaded to get on the deck to get away from these bruts, so i opened the gate and let her in, altho the buck decided he wanted to come too but once he saw me he backed down , its so amazing to watch these magnificent animals.

Isn't he handsome?

And this one he has such a wide rack.

One of our enclosed cat houses

When we bought this house the plus was all the outdoor buildings that were here, our first priorty was to enclose the buildings so the cats could go outside and be safe from predators. Hubby took a old car port parts and put them together to the other buildings and put chicken wire to the sides and the top , no predators or cats can get out or in, the building to the left was a old chicken coop that he remodled inside and the shop has a section that was also enclosed so that the cats have a place in both buildings to hang out in
here is Ben enjoying the grass, he is not crazy about too much humane contact, which this is one of the cat houses that the cats are in, or they have behavior issues
Here is part of the walk way to the chicken coop were they can go in, with dirt to roll in and well yes they like to use it to potty in as well, It gets cleaned several times a week.
Here is the inside of the chicken coop that he put sheet rock up plastered and painted, the holes are were the chicken layed there eggs, all remodefied with insallation for the cats to be warm in
I got this kid bed at a garage sale for $5 bucks they like to lay in it

More of our deer

The first photo is of Scarfaces 2 babies one was the little buck that was killed by the coyotes
This is Baby that is what i call her, she broke her leg from getting caught in a fence, it is looking so much better and is almost able to walk on it, I worry about her when  she doesnt show up but sometimes she goes with mom now that she can walk better, Hung close by
you can see the swollen front leg here, but she uses it now
So here are a few of our bucks that come for breakfast and dinner, i have about 6 to 7 show up daily yes he is on my deck,
 Isnt those horns handsome looking?

This is purple tag, have not figured out why he was tagged but i am assuming he had an injury at one time and they fixed him up and then tagged him, there is a doe that they call 22 because she too has a tag and was rescued from a bucket around her neck, she was here when it was mating season along with purple tag, but since then i have not seen them back here
So the does have been coming after the bucks get here, i guess the figured out that there will be food waiting for them if they wait, The bucks are very aggressive towards them when it comes to food, i have about 20 deer that show up

the love of our deer family

Since moving into our new home one of the joys we have are seeing the deer on a daily basis, I have been feeding them and a few are friendly enough that they will allow me to hand feed themThis is Velvet i think that he is a older buck but one of his issues is that he still has velvet on his horns, when he first showed up here he was very sick, could hardly walk a few steps without coughing so hard, his eyes were also very weepy all green and almost closing his eyes, I started him on antiobiotics in his water and Lysine in his food, it took about a month but he is much better now,
This is Scarface, i call her that because she has a scar down her face, she has two babies a little buck and a little girl i call Baby, her little buck got hit by a car and his back leg and hip was damaged, he dragged his leg, coyotes got him here on my property, it was so sad,

This is my World/Peter French Round Barn

Trip to Utah September 2009

Sept 17th Day 1

We got a late start so didn't make too much time but ended up at the Round Barn.

Had to leave two cats at home, Boo Boo and Avery they just had a fit when we tried to get them in the motor home,so Jan said he would watch them along with Shelby and Venus.

Finally getting down the road poor Alice got sicker than a dog, she puked and puked till there was nothing left i felt so bad for her. She just laid down the rest of the day. But by the time we got parked for the night she was doing so much better, ready to eat and play.

The cages take up a lot of room but i think everyone is much happier that way.

I was going to use the larger cage to put Freckles and Alice in which i did but since she got so sick i decided the next day that i would see how they do without being in the cage. Glad i did as they do ride much better.

Not much interesting stuff to see till we got to the Round Barn, of course the place was already closed since it was almost 6 pm they have a visitors center just outside the entrance to the barn. And who would ever think that there would be a visitors center there. But there is and its a nice one. We were the only people there in the sticks, so we thought that since there was no other place to park we would park there.Just got all the slides out and was getting ready to fix the baby bottles when a guy in a truck came up and said that we couldn't park there. But did tell us we were welcome to park just a few hundred feet at the gravel pit, said that there alarm system goes off whenever there is movement outside so didn't want us to get scared. Thank goodness he told us although we don't go out much at night. But our luck it would go off.

Free parking in your motor home. The Visitors Center is more of a museum and gift shop then anything else.Oh and we did listen to the coyotes all night long.

The Pete French Round Barn Located in Burns Oregon
This round barn was constructed sometime in the late 1870s or early 1880s. There were originally two—or possibly three—in the vicinity, but this is the only round barn remaining. They were used to break horses during the winter. Three hundred to one thousand horses were moved through each year. The French family donated the site to the state of Oregon in 1969
The interior of the barn is constructed from lumber that was hauled to the site from 60 miles to the north. The interior is unique in that it is made from juniper posts. The center was used as a stable; outside that, there is a covered circular track, that was used to exercise horses during winter months. The barn looks much as it did when cattleman Pete French constructed it.
